How often do you need to refinish hardwood floors?
Life happens. No matter what high-quality materials you choose, and how professional the finish, your wood floor will suffer wear and tear.
There is really only concrete or metal that can last unscathed under the onslaught of everyday family life!
Pet claws, stiletto heels, people grinding dirt in on the soles of their shoes, alcohol spills, hot wax...the list of challenges goes on.
A hardwood floor is a thing of beauty and extremely durable, and though you may be extremely proud of it (and a little over-protective), please be assured that once damage does occur, it really isn’t a tragedy.
Also, you need to take the time to assess the depth and coverage of any damage before you go ahead with a complete re-sand and polish. It could be that the occasional gouge or mark can be removed with a partial replenish that experts can do seamlessly.
However, if you do need – or want – regular wood floor refinishing, it is probably more affordable than you imagine. And it is possible to re-sand and re-polish a floor as many times as you want, as long as it is done properly!
Most wood floors can be refinished with ease. It is a relatively straightforward task, involving sanding the floor lightly to take off a thin layer.
This can be tricky even if you are an enthusiastic and experienced DIY fanatic. Industrial grade sanders are powerful and can complete the job quickly when in the right hands. However, it is far too easy if you are a learner to go too deep and compromise the wood or create an uneven finish.
The last step is to apply a few coats of polyurethane finish in a way that leaves the surface flawless and as good as new.

For small drinks stains, scuffs and scratches, a reputable and friendly hardwood floor sanding expert can give you advice on how to repair wood floors.
But having invested in this beautiful hardwood floor, the best bet is to put floor sanding and polishing into the hands of people who specialise in lovingly restoring wood floors.
That way you get the finish you want. And you don’t finish off worse than when you started!
